We are supporting local candle-lit vigils in front of our West Kootenay MLA office, as part of a province-wide initiative to commemorate those who have died in the heat dome, floods, and other climate-related disasters this year — and call on elected representatives to confront the climate emergency and help prevent future deaths.
Vigils will happen on Monday December 13 at 5 pm in front of MLA constituency offices in Nelson (433 Josephine St, MLA Brittny Anderson's office) and Castlegar (1006 3rd St, MLA Katrine Conroy's office).
Come together with your community to commemorate lives lost, hold government accountable, and demand emergency climate action.
Please reach out and share this with all who might be worried about climate change. How about your friends, neighbours, favourite businesses and organizations.
Bring a candle or LED light (handy if it is raining or snowing); dress for the weather and consider reflective clothing to be better seen; masks recommended.
